Issue #0917/1 – Following its announcement in March, Canon’s 20ppm i-SENSYS LBP7200 colour laser printer is now fully available on the market but positions itself firmly at the top end of the cost spectrum, with relatively high purchase price and very high cost of supplies. Comparing the LBP7200 to competitors from Brother, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Kyocera, Lexmark, Oki and Samsung, throws up some surprises and consolidates some expectations.

Issue #0916/2 – Hewlett-Packard has recently acquired an admission from Ninestar Imaging Co. Ltd. that it has infringed patents in the design of its versions of the HP 02 and HP 14 cartridges and has reached a settlement to prevent the infringements continuing.

Issue 0916/1 – Brother has won confirmation from the Düsseldorf Court of Appeal (28th May 2009), upholding two previous preliminary injunctions against Pelikan and German Hardcopy for infringement of utility models held by Brother. In addition, another preliminary injunction was awarded against the companies that overturned a decision by the District Court in Düsseldorf.
