New Hewlett-Packard colour laser printers hit the top slot = most expensive!

Issue #0617/1 - Less is more with the new colour laser printer from Hewlett-Packard. It is the least expensive machine in the group to buy but very nearly the most expensive to run. Therefore, it is most likely to prove popular with sophisticated, but low-volume, colour users where purchase price is paramount.

Issue #0616/2 - Eighteen months after being asked about discrepancies, Dell’s web site is just as bad.

Following comment about 18 months ago about a lack of synchronisation between pricing shown on different pages of Dells printer web site, we note that the situation has not improved despite reporting the discrepancies to Dell on a number of occasions.

Issue #0616/3 - Not only are there web site discrepancies but Dell charges large customers more than small customers for printers.

In addition to having inconsistencies within its web site regarding prices quoted for products, Dell also appears to charge different types of customers different amounts for most printer products.

Could price erosion possibly be bottoming out?

Ever since the start of time – well, the advent of the electronics or ‘IT’ era anyway – we’ve come to expect the price of electronic goods, and computer related goods in particular, to fall rather than to rise. The term ‘Price Erosion’ was coined to express this trend and it really has become an expectation.
